Kasho KDM Offset 5 inch: VG10-W carbon steel with a semi-convex edge
VG10-W carbon steel is the reason the Kasho KDM Offset 5 inch stays sharp for so long. It is a high-grade steel, hard enough to hold a fine edge, and the blades are forged from it instead of being cut out of sheet.
The blades are hollow ground in a semi-convex shape with a satin finish. That combination produces a razor-like edge: the scissors cut through the strand instead of squeezing it, which you feel in the smooth cutting action and hear in the absence of grating.
At 5 inch this is the shortest size in the range, meant for detail work: neckline contours, the finish around the ear, fringes and short men’s cuts. Short blade, short lever, plenty of control per cut.
The tension screw system is simple to operate and works with a unique spring mechanism, so you set the tension precisely and keep that setting while you work.
The kasho kdm offset comes from the Design Master series, in which the finish has been taken as seriously as the grind. That is no side issue in an open salon: a pair of scissors is on show all day, in your hand and on the workbench.
