Méthode de Nettoyage Sophie: oil-based cleansing balm that emulsifies with water
Anyone who holds this oil-based cleansing balm for the first time immediately notices the difference with an ordinary lait. It is a semi-solid texture on an oil base that you mix with water using moist fingers and massaging movements, until a white emulsion is formed. That emulsion does the cleansing work.
The makers deliberately call this step not a cleansing but a pre-treatment phase. It makes the skin receptive to the creams from the Charlotte Sophie Cosmétique line, so that the rest of your treatment comes into its own.
Babassu oil from the Amazon region forms the backbone of the formula. This oil is rich in lauric acid, a fatty acid that also occurs naturally in breast milk, where it has antibacterial and antiviral properties. Traditionally babassu was used for wound healing.
Sweet almond oil softens and preserves the moisture balance, which makes it suitable for dry and moisture-poor skin. It is mildly occlusive and reduces moisture loss through the skin, the TEWL. Vegetable glycerine binds water and holds it; as part of the Natural Moisturizing Factor it contributes to the natural moisture balance.
Sucrose stearate closes the formula as a natural emulsifier with antibacterial properties, which supports the skin barrier and is anti-irritant. This oil-based cleansing balm is suitable for all skin types and comes in an airless dispenser of 100 ml, so that you dose precisely per treatment.
